Beginn

Beginnings

Radio Victoria caused commotion in the mid-eighties as a tenant of broadcasting time from Radio Milano in Italy. This gave us the idea to imitate renting such transmission facilities. After a few guest DJ shows at Radio Victoria our preparations began. Suitable to the computer boom we named the station – and the song “I’m Your Joystick“ of US funk pop group The Dazz- Band was used as the appropriate indicative of our first broadcasts. The son of our favorite pizza baker translated our airtime request into Italian. Soon after, RMI’s second offer laid the foundation for an eventful two-year collaboration. We remained faithful to the Italians even after switching off the shortwave transmitter in January 1987: By 2004, we again commissioned the services of Italian Radio Relay Service. IRRS spreaded our programs even as an Internet stream. In a survey on best program among German free radio stations in 1987 we reached the 5th place!
Jeff White became famous in the mid-eighties in Europe because of his Radio Earth, also emitted in Italy. From summer to winter of 2004 he has been our host at his station WRMI in Florida.

In Latvia we used transmitter facilities 15 km east of Riga from July 2004 to December 2008. A huge antenna system provided listeners across Europe, America and parts of Asia! 2009 to 2011 we returned to the Italian Radio Relay Service, who used a Slovak transmitter near the border with Hungary.

Recording process: During the planning in our Kreuznach studio we not only develop a playlist, but also create a flow chart with music vs. word. The relevant program carefully is compiled and digitally recorded in hifi quality. As a file the broadcast is online to be used by our relay station and as well on Internet for easy use by our listeners on demand at a good time. Thanks to our new horizontal programming, originally introduced in 2004, our listeners know exact air times of our shows: Every first Sunday of the month at 12:00 h German time on shortwave 7330 kHz in the 41-meter band, audible throughout Europe! Every letter with return postage and review of the program we will gladly answer in detail! Correct and detailed reception reports we answer with a four-color, high-quality QSL postcard and information! You can support us even by shopping!
